Electric forklifts have become a widely applied core equipment in modern warehouse, manufacturing and logistics scenarios, thanks to their low noise, zero local emission and relatively easy operation features. Mastering correct use and management methods can help staff give full play to the equipment’s performance, reduce unnecessary operating cost, and create a safer working environment for all on-site personnel.
Core Points of Pre-operation Daily Inspection
Before each shift of operation, operators need to complete a series of basic checks before starting the equipment. First, confirm the remaining power level meets the demand of the whole shift’s tasks, and avoid sudden power loss that interrupts normal operation in the middle of handling work. Then check the effectiveness of the braking system, steering sensitivity, and the wear condition of solid tires, to rule out hidden dangers caused by long-term use. Operators also need to check the surface of forks for obvious deformation or crack, confirm the condition of warning lights and horns are in normal working state, and make sure no foreign objects block the walking path of the equipment.
Standardized Operation Specifications for Daily Use
During operation, operators should adjust the driving speed according to the on-site environment, slow down in areas with dense pedestrian flow or narrow passages, and avoid sharp turns at high speed. When carrying loads, keep the goods at a proper low height as much as possible, and avoid lifting the goods to a high position for long-distance driving, which may increase the risk of side turning. It is not allowed to use the forks to carry irrelevant personnel, nor to overload the equipment beyond the rated load mark, so as not to cause irreversible damage to the lifting hydraulic structure. When driving on slopes, keep the load facing the upper slope direction, and avoid sudden stop or direction change to prevent goods from slipping and falling.
Routine Maintenance Suggestions to Extend Service Life
After finishing daily operation, operators should park the equipment in the designated area, lower the forks to contact the ground, and cut off the power supply properly. For the energy storage unit, follow the official recommended charging rules to avoid over charging or deep discharging for a long time, and keep the connection contact surface clean and dry to reduce energy consumption loss. The hydraulic oil level of the lifting system should be checked regularly according to the usage frequency, and add qualified hydraulic oil in time when the oil level is lower than the standard line, to avoid abnormal noise or insufficient lifting power. The cleaning work of the equipment body should be done regularly, remove the accumulated dust and sundries on the surface of the motor and heat dissipation structure, to ensure the normal heat dissipation effect in continuous working state. Forming a standardized daily management habit can effectively reduce the failure rate of electric forklifts, create higher value for material handling work, and adapt to the low-carbon development trend of modern industrial sites.
